What exactly does Buckram do?
We are the outsourced IT and security department for regulated small businesses: dental and medical practices under HIPAA, accounting firms under the FTC Safeguards Rule, law offices, and government contractors working toward CMMC. We assess where you stand, secure and run your environment, and produce the documentation your auditor, insurer, or prime contractor asks for.
Are you actually HIPAA compliant?
No provider can make you compliant by buying their product, and we do not sell a certification we do not hold. What we do is run a security program aligned to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and the CIS Controls, implement the safeguards those rules require, and keep the documentation that evidences it. Compliance is your obligation; our job is to make it provable.
We already have someone doing our IT. What actually changes?
Usually two things. First, the work becomes documented: what is protected, who has access, when backups were last tested, all written down rather than held in one person’s head. Second, someone is accountable for the answer when an insurer or an auditor asks. Plenty of firms have working IT and no evidence, and that gap only shows up under pressure.
Do you build custom software or AI integrations?
No. Buckram is a compliance-focused managed services practice and nothing else. Keeping the scope narrow is the point: the firms we serve are buying accountability for their security posture, not a development shop.
Who provides oversight of your own work?
We support independent oversight by design: clear data-ownership terms, transparent reporting, and the option of an annual third-party assessment, so you are never relying solely on us to grade our own work.
How do we get started?
Book an assessment. We review where you are exposed and what a regulator, insurer, or client questionnaire would find, and you leave with a plain-English written summary whether or not we end up working together.
